We’re delighted to have been awarded a RoSPA Gold Award for Health and Safety Performance during 2022.
RoSPA is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and is now over 100 years’ old. Up to her passing in 2022, HM Queen Elizabeth II had been the organisations’ Patron since her accession. Their mission is to train and educate in order to reduce accidents. Current figures show that up to 16,000 people die every year in accidents (the equivalent of a double-decker bus-load each day) and they work to prevent these by way of data sharing and evidence gathering, sharing knowledge and working together with organisations all over the world.
What is RoSPA Gold?
RoSPA Awards are recognised around the world, with almost 2,000 entrants from 50 countries every year. In addition to Achievement Awards, they also give out Industry Sector, Fleet Safety and Leisure Industry Awards. Of the four Achievement Awards, Gold is the highest (with Merit, Bronze and Silver as the others).
In order to be awarded Gold, we had to answer ten essay-style questions relating to various matters, including:
- Our Approach to Health and Safety and the direction of this from our Senior Leadership Team.
- Our risk assessment and planning
- Our Health and Safety communication
- How and when our practices are reviewed.
We also had to provide evidence of our accidents, sickness and enforcement data as well as evidence of our policies.
The Awards are non-competitive and each application is judged by an independent Health and Safety panel made up of Consultants and Practitioners.
Applying for the Gold Award is a demonstration of our commitment to Health and Safety – both to our customers and to our team. After five years in business’ we have developed a reputation for the highest standards and our record of 2.5 million hours worked without a RIDDOR Reportable Accident speaks for itself. We were awarded RoSPA Silver in 2021, so to now win Gold shows our ambition and our enduring standards.
