Continuing our “Meet the Team,” feature, this is Jo Haywood. Jo is Unitas’ Communications Officer and has worked with Unitas since August this year when she moved to the role after working for Stoke-on-Trent City Council for a number of years.
Before working at Unitas what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I think I’ve had every job it’s possible to have – I’ve managed a pub, been a Legal Secretary, a Waitress, worked in a shop, been a Care Assistant, made cheesecakes for Tesco, written CV’s for redundant pottery workers, managed a market and had my own business as a copywriter! My favourite job though was working at Alton Towers where I met my husband.
What’s your favourite part about working for Unitas?
I’m very new to the role, having only started in August and so far I’m absolutely loving it. The people are fantastic; I love our CSR, environmental and wellbeing commitments and I’m so enjoying telling our story.
Favourite travel spot and why?
It has to be Orlando, Florida: I love Disney, I love rollercoasters and I love the sun so it’s got everything!
You’re happiest when?
I’m with my family and friends; especially if there’s food and drink involved.
Tell us one thing about yourself that people would be surprised if they knew?
I’m a published author and I’ve written two books. The first is a biography for a client/friend from my copywriting business whilst the second is a fictional story I wrote during lockdown. I’m in the process of editing another that I’m planning to release in April 2023, and I have about another hundred stories in my head!
