CSR, or Corporate Social Responsibility, is a big part of our business here at Unitas. You can read all about our CSR programme and the impact we hope to make in this part of our website.
We have a CSR strategy, which you can find here and we take our role within our city seriously.
As well as having a dedicated CSR Co-ordinator, we write social payback clauses into all of our contracts with suppliers and partners. This arrangement ensures that a proportion of the full cost of each job or contract we commit to is given back to our community. This might mean that we call on a partner to fulfil a task or a job for a charity, good cause or local community project.
This year alone, we’ve helped our chosen charity, Manna House, get a new kitchen, we’ve donated new doors to Joiners Square Community Centre and we’ve given Easter Eggs to the Hubb Foundation.
Whilst it might sound as though CSR is something we do from necessity, this couldn’t be further from the truth. We’re passionate about giving back to our community and our team often go above and beyond to demonstrate this, giving up their time and (often) their money to help where they can. In short, we’re proud of our commitment to our community and the city we live and work in, and we always try to push to better the efforts we make.
Autumn Plans
Since April this year, we’ve given back over £50,000 in Social Value to the community – which is a huge achievement, but obviously we want to do more.
So, we’ve lined up a BIG Autumn push:
- Monthly litter picks around our Northwood base.
- Blurton Community Garden – regular collaborators, Morgan and Bond are installing a shed base and slabbed area around the shed as well as levelling relaying an existing slabbed area for the community group.
- City Farm – our friends at Lovell are re-roofing and renovating the existing external toilet block for the community group.
- Merit Pupil Referral Unit and Hospital School – Staffordshire Probation Team’s Community Payback Team are rubbing down, prepping and painting the school railings.
In addition, we’ll be doing more for Manna House to support the vital work they do.
Look out for updates on our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn feeds.
